My wife and I (both 70 years old) have found helpful relief with this boat hook. Docking with a 45-foot vessel in a narrow harbor or in a lock with brackets instead of bollard has become pure pleasure, but requires some practice first. The quality of the boat hook is excellent.
No more hassle to get a buoy. The principle of this gaff is brilliant and the quality perfect. Disadvantage when everyone has one, there will be less spectacle in buoy moorings
Very practical for taking up a berth without getting out of the boat alone and with a fairly high freeboard (I sail on a 12m). To take a chest I prefer a lighter product.
Basically an ingenious part with which we have already astonished some neighbors and mooring guys, if there weren't a big but. Unfortunately, the second one is already broken and we have been able to repair the second one several times with the remains of the first one. Spare Parts? Would be cool at the price, but not here in the shop ... The main problem is when the carabiner (which opens to the outside is very unusual!) hooks onto the mooring line with its fine barb, but it should be fast and reliable as usual. Beginners find it difficult. Mooring rings that are too thick or too small then jam. Don't even give up and throw in the water, as the hook will bind and then inevitably snap.
After 2 uses, the mechanism is stuck and by pulling a little hard on it it explodes in my hands ... only used for a buoy grip (see the 2 photos) To be used with tweezers, too fragile
Unfortunately, this is already defective after the first use, it can no longer be pushed back completely. So it no longer works. In Greece (September 2020) I met a skipper with the same boat hook and the same problem.
