How healthy is your drinking water?
Drinking water must be free of germs and pathogens. One can generally assume that our drinking water in Northern Europe is of good quality.
It is not recommended to store drinking water from unknown sources. Furthermore, care should be taken when filling the water tank; the end of the hose must be kept clean and, if possible, not plugged into the filler neck of the yacht (this is because the hose could have been in contact with dirty harbor water or other unclean liquids or materials).
Nevertheless, drinking water in water tanks frequently becomes contaminated. Specifically, when water is stored for a longer period of time. Once germs get into the system (hoses, pumps and tanks), they will reproduce rapidly, depending on the temperatures. Therefore, you must protect yourself by using drinking water treatment!
