- The right companion for motor boat, canoe & kayak -
A manual life jacket is recommended for all sports where constant contact with water or water spray could result in the unintentional triggering of a fully automatic life jacket. This is irritating, because once the automatic trigger is activated, it can no longer be stopped. The CO2 cartridge and trigger mechanism must then be replaced before the jacket can be used again.
A life jacket with a manual trigger does not release when in contact with water or splashing water - the buoyancy chamber is inflated by simply pulling a manual release cord. A manual release life jacket is thus perfect for canoeing, kayaking, dinghying or waterskiing. They are also popular for use in regatta sailing and motorboating.
Manual life jackets do not have an automatic release system as is the case with automatic life jackets. We show you the difference between the two types in our life jacket video.
