Replacement device for my predecessor device that was destroyed by lightning and was 13 years old. Since I already have AIS on board, I wanted a simple device that I, as a casual radio operator, could use without having to look at the manual every time. The GX1400GPSE is delivered, the designation in the shop is misleading. The integrated GPS works for me when installed below deck without an additional antenna (GRP sandwich construction). MMSIATIS entry is easy and can be reset by the manufacturer using a code if necessary. There are a few nice additional features, e.g. you can display the position of the other ship on the chartplotter during a DSC call... The device is small and light. Would I buy again.
To see over time as far as reliability is concerned, but on the other aspects I find this VHF to be excellent value for money. It is ergonomic (simple menus and configuration, buttons easy to handle even when it shakes at sea, DSC calls, integrated GPS which picks up satellite signals very quickly, etc.). 2 criticisms that can be made, neither the protective cover nor the parts for flush mounting are included (and they are expensive for what they are).
Easy to install, intuitive and efficient. We would have appreciated a classic jack connector for the audio output, or the small passive gps antenna supplied with it, but for the price we can not have everything ;-)
I bought the radio from Svb. The service and advice was good. When I asked whether the programming was also possible, the employee immediately asked by phone whether it was still possible, so I was able to take my radio home with me after an hour and a half. How the radio is in practice, I cannot assess yet. As always, shopping at Svb was very good.
