Since the pendulum damping is not adjustable and it does not fit at all for my boat, I would buy a fixed bracket next time. The much higher price is therefore even less justified.

Installed one of these and works well when new. Definite improvement in radar performance, especially making tuning out sea-clutter on windward side easier.

BUT my first one failed fairly quickly - the oil leaked out and so no more damping. It would thrash around wildly in even calm seas so radar became useless.

Scanstrut replaced it under warranty, but the same happened fairly quickly on the replacement. I didn't;t want another couple of trips up the mast to replace it again, given that it clearly was not going to last long. So I just tied off the mount so now I have a (very expensive) ungimbaled mount...
