Display with a sober line and a little too plastic and matt appearance if it is mounted without a cover. Wiring is easy as long as you use the correct diagram! It is therefore necessary to compare the diagram options proposed by VDO for the display with the wiring diagram of the temperature sensor itself. The logarithmic scale of the display is a little frustrating for an engine with a rated operating temperature below 60 the needle moves little! but, of course, the important thing is that it clearly signals a temperature rise above 80. The red overheating light is hardly visible during the day; an audible alarm is more effective.
Looks good and easy to install. The disadvantage, however, is that the installation instructions are NOT included. You have to download them from the enclosed CD or from the Internet and view them on your computer or iPad. Since you usually don’t have something like that with you when working on the boat, this is a big disadvantage and in my opinion you save at the wrong end, a piece of paper with the cable assignment should already be included in the price.
Missing connection plan - also not on the CD supplied, a total of 8 cables that could not be assigned, even repeated phone calls with you revealed only general ignorance in your case. The device was therefore connected incorrectly and permanently damaged. At "Compass" there was then for half the price a good device that works well ...... continue with Compass!
The temperature meter shown did not correspond to the product delivered. A temperature meter with a measuring range of +40 to +120 degrees was delivered. No reaction (approx. Four weeks) from SVB after the return
