If you program the encoder to a resistance output, this does not work with purely electronic systems that read in a resistance (as with me, for example, with the tank input of a Victron Cerbo GX).
Research by the manufacturer revealed the following. Citation
"The "Resistance" settings of the BEP TS-1 ultrasonic transmitter do not emulate a real resistor in the sense of ohmic resistance, but work with PWM. These resistance settings can only be used with mechanical devices, as the mechanical inertia of the coil needle spring of the device causes the needle occupies an intermediate position in relation to the PWM indicating the correct tank level. For all other electronic measuring devices, such as AD converters, MFDs, etc., the output must be set to 0 - 5V."
For me it meant that I had to have the sensor reprogrammed to 0...5V and had to install a special tank module (GX Tank 140) on the Cerbo GX.
The fuel gauge works perfectly. However, the supplied voltage divider did not fit with my VDO instruments specified in the order, so I had to build my own sill divider. ,
After I tried several different sensors for the tank display fresh water, I finally found an excellent donor. The fuel gauge now works very well. Thanks also to the team of SVB, which made the attitude of the donor.
The device is good, experience will tell, the voltage output goes through an emitter follower (transistor) and a 100 ohm resistor to a 4 to 20 mA VDO instrument that works. For the sensor, I have a sound guide tube 40mm installed on the tank sole, then it will not scrape for the sensor, the practice will show it. The 5-hole flange is a treat !!!
Can not use the sensor as intended because a lateral distance of at least 15 cm to the tank walls must be maintained. This is not possible with my tank. Would have to install it in the central inspection lid; that would be difficult to screw on then.
The fuel sender was purchased and installed in September 2020 for over €200. It worked well until spring 2023, i.e. 2 12 years. After that, the instrument only showed FULL after switching on and, after an unsuccessful search for a fault, it was replaced in September 2023 with a simple lever actuator for €18. This worked straight away. Lt. SVB's warranty has expired and the TS1 cannot be repaired because it is cast. -(( great product v-(( You can just throw it away now.
