Grounding a GRP yacht is a major challenge. It can only be achieved by keeping the distance from the antenna tuner to the grounding surface as short as possible and having a large grounding surface. Grounding is only achieved for a short time with grounding plates, as they quickly become clogged with mussels and algae. Their effectiveness steadily decreases over time. Apply SSB-Ground-Paint on the inside of the ship below the waterline as close as possible to the antenna tuner, where it is capacitively coupled to the sea water. The area to be painted should be approx. three square metres. This means that, firstly, the ground can be connected directly behind the tuner, secondly, a large area is coupled to the seawater and thirdly, the area is protected from environmental influences and therefore maintenance-free.
SSB Ground Paint is solvent-free and can be easily applied in the abaft area under the bunks in the bilge. For protection, the surface can be painted over with conventional bilge paint. SSB-Ground-Paint is connected to the antenna tuner via a broad embedded copper strap. Coverage: 0.5 l is sufficient for approx. 3 sqm.
SSB-Ground-Paint is not protection against lightning!
