Product details

This YDEG-04 engine gateway can be used to transfer the data of Volvo Penta EVC engines (year of manufacture 2002 and later) to an NMEA2000 network, giving you the optimal overview of speed, voltage, temperature, oil pressure and much more on your multifunctional display.

The interface has a standard 6-pin deutsch plug/socket, so it can be easily integrated into the engine network (e.g. in front of the rev counter). Engine malfunction does not occur, because the interface only sends data and does not receive it. Configuration is done via a text file, which must be saved on an optional microSD card and subsequently inserted into the existing card slot.

With an optional adapter cable (click here) also suitable for Mercury / Mercruiser engines.

The following adapter cables are available for connection to an existing motor display:

Volvo Penta EVC-A Via the 6 pin Deutsch connector of the EVC-A-M motor 90296
Volvo Penta EVC-A MC Via the 12 pin connector C5 of the EVC-A MC motor 90297
Volvo Penta EVC-A EC Via the 12 pin connector X5 of the EVC-A EC motor 90298
Volvo Penta EVC EFI MEFI4B ECU or later petrol engine with year of construction 2004/2005 with or without EVC 90316
Volvo EVC/VODIA Via the 8 pin connector of the EVC/VOIDA motor 90317
Mercury / Mercruiser Via the 10 pin connector of the Smartcraft motor from 2011 onwards 90317

Good part - not exactly cheap
Installation is easy. Worked straight away.

plug and play
Used in combination with a Volvo D3 and EVC. Simple "plug and play" connection to the EVC Multilink hub. The engine data are then available in the N2K bus for display on a plotter.

Good part works well unfortunately poorly described.
Nevertheless for retrofitting for Volvo Penta top.

Dear Tolga! Our engine gateway YDEG-04 supports only D2-75B/C/F versions with MDI box. If you have it, YDEG-04 can be connected to the "Multilink" connector on the engine's MDI (Mechanical Diesel Interface) box, or in series with the Volvo tachometer.

Flag of English Device is not reading engine data (not sending anything to the NMEA2000 network). Engine is Volvo Penta D4-260 EVC-D. What can I do? Is there anything in the configuration file I need to adjust?

Dear Padure! Please check YDEG-04 LED indication – it should blink green-green. If first blink is red, check engine connection (in your case YDEG should be connected to any free port of the Multilink hub), is second blink is red – check NMEA2000 connection. Check if you can observe YDEG-04 in NMEA2000 device list. When both connections are OK, YDEG-04 should work plug-and-play with your engine, so you should be able to observe engine data on your MFD. If you have GREEN-GREEN indication, but no engine data on MFD, check that your MFD supports engine data (NMEA2000 PGNs 127488 and 127489). Add engine gauges to your MFD dashboard (if you don`t have it yet), and choose data sources manually. In rare cases, the motor may have a non-standard address on the bus, in which case it must be specified in the gateway configuration file. Check that you have actual firmware version on your YDEG-04, and update it if needed.

Hi, The leds are RED-GREEN. The interface is visible on my NMEA2000 network, and is is recognized automatically on my MFD (Garmin 922xs Plus), but there is no data from the engine. How can i check the firmware version on my YDEG-04 and how can I update it? Is there a way I can find the motor non-standard address on the bus, in which case it must be specified in the gateway configuration file? Thanks

If you have RED-GREEN indication (when both engine and NMEA2000 are on), you have issue with engine connection, Please try to connect YDEG into another port of Multilink hub. While you have at least one red blink, configuration file editing is useless.

I don't have another Multilink port. Tomorrow i can test with another boat, same engine, same MFD. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks

Dear Padure! Are you sure that you have EVC-D system? Please tell exact engine model/year/specification number. If you have EVC-B system, you can have other issue. CAN buses on EVC-B can be swapped, so you will need to rearrange pins on YDEG-04 connectors.

Flag of English Dear address, My Bavaria 55 Cruiser have a 2010 Volvo Penta D3 110-C equipped with EVC system. Would this device be able to connect to the motor and give data for the NMEA 2000 system to be able to read motor data on the chart plotter?
Answers:

Dear Zoltan! Do you mean D3-110I-C engine? If so, you should have EVC-C(MC) system. #YDEG-04# is compatible with your engine. YDEG should be connected to X5: Multilink port of the EVC HCU unit, in series with the existing cable. Also check that your chartplotter can display engine data.

Thank you, and i will send a picture about the Motor so please check and give me the confirmation about the motor. I think the motor is D3 110I-C as the picture show but it is not realy good. What do you mean "YDEGschoul be connected to X5" What is X5? I have two chart plotters, main is B&G Zeus3S 12 MFD, the secondary is a B&G Vulcan 9FS.

Dear Zoltan! I apologize for my mistake. On D3 engines with EVC-MC, YDEG-04 must be connected to the 12-pin "Engine" port on the HIU (Helm Interface Unit) using the "EVC-A MC 12-pin C5:ENGINE cable", in series with the existing cable. I confirm that both MFD can display engine data
