Product details

SmartShunt turns your phone into a battery monitoring display. It connects to your mobile phone via Bluetooth and the VictronConnect App. SmartShunt measures the battery voltage and current. This data is used to calculate state of charge and the remaining running time. VictronConnect reads this important battery data and settings can be adjusted via the app. Furthermore, it is possible to connect the shunt to a GX device via a VE.Direct cable.
Thanks to very simple cabling, the shunt is particularly suitable in areas where there is little space for wiring.
The SmartShunt has an auxiliary input that can be used to monitor the voltage of a second battery or to monitor the midpoint of a battery bank.
Delivery includes two cables, both with fuse, these are used for the positive connection of the battery (M8 clamp) and, if necessary, for connecting a second battery. The shunt has two M10 bolts for connecting the negative of the battery and the electrical system.

Best option around by far
If you are ok with checking your currents (charging or discharging power) on your mobile phone then this is it. You can connect it also to your boat console somehow, but I don't need that and I didn't try. But if you need something with it's own gauge display, then there is another model which you can build into your instrument console. But this one is much much easier to install - no drilling, no cabling at all.

No, you cannot integrate the VICTRON SmartShunt into the positive battery connection cable. This active shunt requires an operating voltage. This means that the integrated electronic must have a connection to the positive AND negative battery terminal. If you look at the connections of the Smart Shunt, you will notice that besides the AUX measurement input, there is only the VBatt+ connection and the M10 screws for the negative connections. Accordingly, the integrated ectronic receives it's operating voltage via the VBatt+ and an M10 negative connection. If you put the shunt in the positive line, the integrated ectronic lacks the battery negative.
