Victron's professional DC-DC charger, ORION-TR SMART, is perfect for dual battery systems where the alternator and starter battery are used to charge the service battery. The battery-to-battery charger can be monitored via Bluetooth, programmed and controlled via a remote switch.

Bluetooth Smart
Thanks to the Bluetooth function, you can monitor the unit and make changes, settings and software updates via a smartphone, tablet or similar device.

does what it's supposed to do
I installed the charger to protect the alternator from the lithium battery. Installation was problem-free and integration into the app was easy. The device is working perfectly so far.

In most boats and vehicles with multiple batteries (e.g. starter battery, service battery, winch/bow thruster battery), the battery MINUS terminals are connected to each other and to the boat/vehicle ground. The common MINUS eases charging current distribution, but also provides a path for interference signals from one DC network to another. Galvanically isolated B2B devices are used on special boats/emergency vehicles to break ground loops and thus protect sensitive technical equipment from sources of interference.
