Product details

The GX2400E from STANDARD HORIZON is the direct successor to the popular GX2200E. An NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 interface are standard features of the GX2400E. The integrated 66 channel GPS receiver provides reliable GPS reception. The GX2400E is also equipped with an integrated AIS receiver. AIS data received can be sent to chart plotters using NMEA2000 or NMEA0183. The built-in VHF splitter allows the VHF and AIS receiver with only a single FM antenna.

The large 2,6“ x 1,4“ (66 x 36 mm) LCD screen of the Standard Horizon GX2400E displays all received AIS targets clearly. This allows the user not only to identify other ships using the transmitted MMSI, but also to determine the respective course of the targets. The display will also tell you instantly about the MMSI number, call sign, ship name, bearing, distance, speed over ground and course over ground of the selected target. Furthermore, an alarm can be activated in case of dangerous approach (CPA alarm adjustable).

For fast and accurate communication, an automatic DSC-call can be sent to a selected AIS target. The big advantage here is that you do not have to enter the 9-digit MMSI number of the selected ship. Simply select the target on the AIS screen, then press the call button.

Take advantage of the NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 interfaces built into the standard Horizon GX2400E. Thanks to these interfaces, you can, for example, share AIS data with all devices in the NMEA2000 network or send AIS data directly to a chartplotter using NMEA0183. GPS data from external sources can also be sent to the GX2400E via the NMEA2000 or NMEA0193 interface. This is particularly useful if the GX2400E is mounted in a location where the GX2400E's internal GPS has no reception.

Thanks to its integrated GPS antenna, the GX2400E is a useful navigation aid, with the ability to store up to 250 waypoints and 30 routes. These waypoints can be selected and controlled with the help of the compass display.

In case a pressure chamber loudspeaker is connected, the device can also be used as a counter / intercom. The GX2400E radio can be connected to a fully-fledged secondary control panel. This waterproof handset is ideal for mounting on the outside steering position, at the tiller or cockpit. If a second control device is connected even an intercom function is possible. You can thus make "calls" between the devices.

Original German instructions can be downloaded from the manufacturer. Also the instructions for making country-specific channel settings. What is not yet available for purchase here is the wireless handheld microphone. Otherwise very good radio.

Good advice from SVB, information in advance on the homepage and then final information over the phone. The device works flawlessly and although the range of functions is significantly larger than the previously installed one, it can be operated well and safely with the clear menu navigation. Thanks for the German translation of the operating instructions.
