Product details

This compact and practical EX series bow and stern thruster from SIDE-POWER is externally mountable and ideally suitable for boats where a tunnel bow thruster cannot be installed, regardless of the hull shape, material and propulsion system.
The EX models can be used in all types of boats, from sailboats and motorboats to catamarans with steel, aluminium, wood or GRP hulls.
As the external bow thruster is installed further forward towards the bow compared to a conventional tunnel bow thruster and has a significantly lower installation position, a much better leverage effect is achieved. This means that the EX series bow thrusters can move considerably larger boats with a lower nominal power.

Features

Hydrodynamic design

Very short cross channel and ideal positioning reduce water resistance compared to conventional systems. Loss of speed is not noticeable.

Easy installation
Only three small installation holes are required, which are sealed with special rubber gaskets. No laminating necessary.

Noise reducing
External design results in significant noise reduction. Deeper installation position for minimal cavitation.

Longer operating times
The external mounting position under the hull allows efficient cooling. This results in considerably longer operating times than with conventional systems.

Space-saving installation
The external construction of the unit saves a lot of space on board compared to conventional systems.

Optimum efficiency
The significantly shorter cross tunnel and ideal leverage effect due to the deeper installation position, further away from the pivot point, result in optimum efficiency. This enables an increase in efficiency of up to 40% compared to conventional systems.

Quality
All components of the EX series are carefully constructed coordinated so that the systems meet the highest quality requirements. Manufactured in our ISO-certified factory in Fredrikstad.

i-BOX - Intelligent system control
  • Minimum electronic switching delay in case of abrupt change of thrust direction
  • Permanent monitoring of the relay function
  • Automatic deactivation of the bow thruster in case of a malfunction of the relay, additional actuation of the main switch is not necessary
  • Compatibility with all Side-Power bow and stern thrusters is guaranteed by using standard Side-Power components.

Delivery includes the i-Box control unit and the EX95S bow and stern thruster.
The mounting kit is not included in delivery.

Esperienza dal 2014
It was the only possibility to mount a bow thruster on my boat (X-Yachts 37). It works very well and the installation does not require large fiberglass works. Council to apply a protection that connects the stern part of the Exturn to the hull to prevent ropes from becoming entangled between this and the "torpedo.
