Liontron LiFePO4 LX Arctic marine lithium batteries are a full replacement for lead-acid batteries with a significantly lower weight and all the benefits of lithium iron phosphate technology. The integrated thermal heat pad ensures maximum charging performance even when temperatures drop to as low as -30 °C. Liontron LX lithium batteries meet the highest demands, offer maximum safety and long service life. They are therefore ideal for use as consumer batteries. Includes Bluetooth battery monitor for smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS).

An integrated Bluetooth interface enables convenient battery monitoring via smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS), ensuring that all important battery data is available at all times, such as battery voltage, charge/discharge current, battery temperature, state of charge (%), remaining or total capacity, number of cycles, etc..

LIONTRON batteries are manufactured in accordance with protection class IP67 and is therefore resistant to dust, dirt, splash water and water jets. Perfect for use on board.


Safest lithium technology - LiFePO4

The LiFePO4 technology of this battery is not only extremely powerful, but also the safest on the market.
The integrated Battery Management System (BMS) ensures that the battery cells are constantly monitored and protects against overcharging, overvoltage and overtemperature, and also ensures that the state of charge of the cells remains in balance (balancing). Early failure due to environmental influences or incorrect use is prevented by the BMS in advance.

Advantages of lithium technology

High energy density:
Lithium batteries have a higher energy density than other types of batteries, which means they can store more energy in a smaller and lighter package. Approximately 40% lighter than a comparable lead-acid battery.

Operation in partially charged state:
Contrary to the requirements for the traditional lead/acid-based battery types, lithium batteries can be operated in a partially charged state without losing power, so prolonged lifespan is expected.

Low self-discharge:

Notes on the use of 12.8 V LIONTRON lithium batteries of the LX Smart BMS series
  • 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries are pure consumer batteries and should not be used as a single battery to start internal combustion engines or to power powerful thrusters or winches.
    => For engine start applications, LIONTRON has the HighCurrent 12.8V 80Ah / CCA 1200A battery in its range. (Only available from us on request.)

  • 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries can be installed in an upright position or lying on their long or narrow sides.

  • 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries are very powerful energy sources.
    To protect the installation from short circuits or overloads, a fuse must be fitted in the immediate vicinity of the battery positive terminal, the capacity of which must be appropriate to the requirements of the installation.

  • Only batteries of the same type and model may be connected in parallel. A LiFePO4 battery should never be connected directly to a lead/acid based battery, otherwise problems will inevitably arise due to the very different charging and discharging characteristics.

  • When using a lead/acid starter battery and a LiFePO4 consumer battery, it is advisable to use a battery-to-battery charger (also called B2B or charge booster) to charge the batteries via the alternator for the LiFePO4 battery. A B2B provides optimal charging of the LiFePO4 battery and, when selected correctly, the B2B also serves to limit current and protect less powerful alternators from thermal overload.

  • 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries with the same capacity can be connected in parallel. Batteries from different manufacturers or of different types should not be combined.

    Before interconnecting, the batteries must be equalised. When shipped from the factory, the batteries are charged to approx. 20%. It is therefore advisable to fully charge first before connecting them in parallel.

    For parallel connection, i.e. for connecting batteries to each other, only cables with the same cross-section and length should be used. Consumers and charging equipment should be connected to the positive terminal of the first battery and the negative terminal of the last battery. This is the only way to ensure that all batteries connected in parallel are equally loaded and charged.

    Parallel connection of several batteries results in a higher current carrying capacity. In connection with powerful consumers, care must nevertheless be taken to ensure that the permissible discharge current limits are not exceeded. (For details, see the data sheet of the respective batteries.)

  • Serial connection (series connection) of the 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries is not permitted! Failure to do so may result in a defect and loss of the warranty/guarantee claim.
    LIONTRON also has 25.6 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries in its range.

  • 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries must not be connected with reverse polarity, otherwise irreparable damage will occur in the BMS electronics, requiring replacement of the BMS at the expense of the user.
    12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries have a very low self-discharge rate. If the battery is not used for a longer period of time, it should not be fully charged before storage, but only to max. 80 % and the state of charge should be checked after 1 year at the latest. State of charge (SOC) is easy to check via the LIONTRON app.



Notes on charging 12.8 V LIONTRON LX Smart BMS batteries

Recommended charging voltage: 14.2 to 14.6 volts
Float charge voltage: 13.5 to 13.8 volts
Recommended charging current: Capacity-dependent, see the values in the data sheet of the respective battery.
- Charging via alternator should be done with a battery-to-battery charger (B2B).
Charging temperature range: 0 to 50 °C
Although you can discharge lithium batteries at temperatures as low as -20°C, they should never be charged at temperatures below freezing (0°C).
