ICOM's IC-M506GE is a high quality marine VHF radio with integrated GPS and AIS receivers, and offers outstanding features that simplify communication on the water. NMEA2000 connectivity.

Built-in GPS receiver
A built-in GPS receiver with external antenna provides information about the ship's position, bearing and speed using GPS and GLONASS data. Recorded position information can be used for DSC calls.

Integrated AIS Receiver
The IC-M506GE radio system has an integrated AIS receiver. This receiver allows AIS ship data to be transmitted in real time to a compatible display.

NMEA 2000 ™ connectivity
NMEA2000 connectivity makes it easy to send and receive data. Simply connect a compatible display to the radio and you will receive GPS data, AIS reports and DSC call information data on your display.

Last call voice recording
A further function is voice recording. The radio automatically stores the last two minutes of the last incoming call. This allows you to play back the last calls received and never miss a call again.

Active noise reduction
Active noise reduction reduces background noise for easy communication. It reduces background noise by 90% on reception and 30% on transmission.

Intuitive user interface
Intuitive and user-friendly operation. The lower line of the display shows the functions of the respective keys, which can be switched with the left and right keys.

DSC Watch function
With the built-in DSC Watch function, you are immediately informed about news on channel 70, even if you are receiving from a different channel at the same time.

Waterproof to IPX8
The IC-M506GE and the supplied HM-205B microphone can withstand 60 minutes in 1 m (3.2 ft) of water.

The device was installed and tested immediately. It passed all tests well. Even the small supplied GPS antenna was immediately found on a steel ship and gave good signals. However, the built-in DSC controller could not be tested yet, but all DSC participants on the AIS screen were recognized immediately. I would buy the device again immediately and can only recommend a purchase.

Flag of English Is a separate AIS antenna required to install this piece of equipment? If so, would you be so kind as to recommend one. Thank you!

Hi Isabelle, For receiving also AIS, you can use your existing VHF-Antenna. Those should be capable to support frequencies156 and 162 MHz. Mostly this is labeled on bottom of housing Antenna
