Safety at sea with the IC-M605EURO marine radio
Since its foundation in 1954, ICOM has been one of the most important brands in the field of amateur radio and offers a wide range of radio equipment for water sports and sailing. Marine radios are an important part of every ship. Integrated into the ship, the device supports the captain with information about other vessels in the immediate vicinity and also provides a means of contact during the voyage. The ICOM IC-M605EURO belongs to the class D DSC radios and stands for simple and understandable operation.
Effective on the high seas: The ICOM IC-M605EURO VHF radio
The IC-M605EURO from the Japanese manufacturer ICOM is an effective radio for sailing that is suitable for a wide range of waters thanks to its functions. The radio system features an integrated AIS receiver and a clear colour display that makes it easy to read information. A particular highlight of the radio is the high receiver performance, which reliably receives even weak signals.
The existing intercom function connects the individual devices without any problems. The radio can also be equipped with loudspeaker microphones, loudspeakers and GNSS receivers if required. To do this, the device accesses the existing NMEA 2000 connectivity, which gives the captain a complete overview of the ship's data. In order to display data correctly, the device features a 4.3-inch TFT colour display with an attractive presentation of the information displayed. The screen of the ICOM IC-M605EURO has an extremely wide viewing angle of 180°, which does not make it difficult to read from the side. So wird selbst in hektischen Situation ein guter Überblick gewährt.
This ensures a good overview even in fast-paced environments.
The VHF radio's keypad is clearly laid out and the softkeys and logically structured menu make it easy to operate. A special centrepiece for safety on the high seas is the integrated AIS receiver, which displays the positions of other ships on the screen. The captain can display the direct position of individual ships via a menu, which makes it much easier to make contact.
The ICOM IC-M605EURO radio has an active noise canceller that filters out ambient noise, static and noise and amplifies the voice of the other party so that every voice signal is received and transmitted clearly. If important information is exchanged between two participants, it remains comprehensible. Together with the noise canceller, the device's powerful and clear speakers are highly effective. The high performance in receiving even weak signals in the environment is also important for this. In an emergency, receiver performance can prevent the worst from happening. To ensure greater reliability during reception, the last two minutes of the radio messages received are always saved so that they can be retrieved subsequently. If you want to communicate something to the crew, you can use the loudspeaker function, which connects the radio to an external loudspeaker. The device also has a fog horn.
