The Honda BF 20 is a high performance engine with a speed-optimized microprocessor-controlled ignition system. This improves acceleration and fuel consumption. The electronic monitoring system for speed, oil pressure and coolant temperature offers even more reliability. The HONDA BF 20 meets the requirements of Lake Constance level 1.

Light, mobile performance - smooth, clean and quiet
Mobile 20 hp outboard motors are perfect for all boats that need pocket-sized power thanks to their retractable handles.

Easy start
The motors have an automatic decompression system for easy starting. This makes the engine much easier to turn over if you have a manual recoil-type, and it's less of a drain on the battery if you have the electric start.
Laudably quiet
The BF20 engines are so quiet you can raise the power, without having to raise your voice! When the 4-stroke engine starts up you’ll notice how quiet it is as you roll on the power. And with the unique rubber mount device that soaks up the vibrations, it feels smooth too.

Compact performance
The Honda BF20 engines are very reliable, with superior fuel-efficiency and low emissions. The light 4-stroke 350cc engines are easy to start, because they have a decompression system and a Programmed ignition (PGM IG). This ignition system accurately delivers the right amount of fuel/air mixture to the twin cylinders, so these Hondas are ready to go, even from cold.
These outboard engines are extremely robust and have a high-output charging coil, which will support most electronic equipment you have on board – even at lower revs and slower speeds.
Reverse thrust
In forward motion (A) the propeller will drive normally through water, but in reverse it's a different story – unless you have a Honda. On other outboards, the propeller will turn in exhaust bubbles and wont ‘hook up’ with the water. Our unique reverse exhaust relief system directs the exhaust bubbles away from the propeller (B), so that it can 'grip' the water – instead of air. The result is instant reverse response with much finer control.


Trim and tilt
The light engine is easy to tilt up in 5 stages. Lifting the manual (A) and the electric version (B) up or down, enables you to manually trim the boat to give you maximum performance and fuel efficiency. It also stops you from damaging the propeller blades when you find yourself near rocks or the water’s edge.


Easy on your wrist
The engines have a Forward Mount Shift Lever for fingertip gear changing. It's so much easier to operate and better located than on other outboards, whether you're left or right-handed. Together with a soft-grip throttle handle and a twist-lock, it’s effortless. You can just roll on and off the power all day long (B), or lock it off (A) – just like cruise control.

Super nice advice from Mr. Lübben
I bought the 20 hp to replace my old 2-stroke. The great thing is that the engine was available immediately - and that in the season, a real stroke of luck. I phoned my sore fingers beforehand and SVB was able to deliver thanks to Mr. Lübben!!! Motor runs great and is very quiet - but quite heavy (over 60kg) - especially if you have a small boat. The shifting is not easy and could go a little easier from forward or reverse to neutral, and the throttle response is quite strong. It would be nicer if you could accelerate a little more sensitively when driving slowly. Also missing is a hook on the engine block to hang the engine from the boat with a pulley. There is a tub for tools and spare parts under the hood - Honda thought of that. It's also stupid that you have to remove the lower panel to change the oil to get to the filter. Nevertheless - all in all a great motor that I deliberately chose and would buy again and again. Honda have been making AB 4-strokes since the late 80's and they still run well today, so why bother experimenting?
