Halyard 10mm30m
Seamanship of very good quality, but... undersized carabiner 52mm 100mm carabiner with breaking load of 1100 Kg for a rope of 3400 kg breaking load. It would have been better to use the higher model, of 66mm14mm with a breaking load of 1700 Kg.

Poor quality carabiner
The halyard and splice are of good quality.
On the other hand, the carabiner is of poor quality. The automatic closing is not safe, the carabiner axis does not lock completely. Indeed when I hoisted the jib for the first time with this 10mm halyard, what was supposed to happen, happened. The carabiner opened and released and the halyard flew away. Probably a bad design of the axle spring?
Therefore, I replaced the carabiner with a shackle.

Sheet shackle not convincing
After using the traps for 2 seasons I have to say the shackles are not good enough. When setting the blister, which experience has shown is associated with more banging of the halyard than with a jib, the lock failed. The locking pin is in my opinion with too much play, too thin and a bit too short. End of the song Blister in the creek and halyard shackle at a height of 14m in front of the halyard box!
It doesn't have to be! cordage is ok.

Dear Jay, this article is OK for a Jib halyard. For a mainsail, you have to exchange the Sheet Shackle with this one: -#11101#-. You are also able to contact us for a customized rigging: Info@SVB24.com. Yours SVB-team.
