Product details
When combined with an iPhone or iPad, the FURUNO wireless radar antenna displays classic radar images without the need for a complex chart plotter. The radar antenna features 4 kW transmission power and has a special module that transforms radar signals into WiFi datasets. These can then be displayed on a total of two Apple devices. This is done via the downloadable FURUNO radar app. It combines the familiar basic configuration options of a conventional radar with the intuitive use of iPhone and iPad.
Understanding radar and its abstract images becomes much easier as a result, and even inexperienced crew members can be pushed and encouraged to learn. This gives you the advantage that, in bad weather, with poor visibility due to rain, fog, and sea, your crew trained in the simplicity of the FURUNO radar app will be of assistance at the right time, rather than stumbling over the many buttons and functions of a complicated nautical plotter.
With the next generation of FURUNO plotters (2016), radar images can also be sent and displayed on plotters (e.g. as a back-up), so that there is a fixed radar display in the navigation area of the boat.
