Sealants have several uses on board a boat. Our marine sealants from Sikaflex, Yachticon and Tikal are suitable for sealing through-hulls, cable inlets, bathrooms or windows. The main purpose of boat sealant is one thing: to protect the interior of the boat from water penetration. Our sealants are also ideal for embedding cleats and fittings, filling cracks that can cause leaks, and making sealant joints that are resistant to vibration.

What are the properties of a good boat sealant?
Boat sealants must be weather and UV resistant and should, ideally, be overpaintable. When used indoors, sealants should contain as little solvent as possible, so that the user is exposed fewer harmful emissions. Sealant is used in boat building on a wide variety of materials. In the best case, a good sealant should be suitable for many applications and reliably seal rubber, wood, glass, plastic and metals, as well as concrete, ceramics, polystyrene, filler and existing primers and paints.
