It all began in 1948 with the innovative idea to manufacture cost-effective yacht blocks from the lightweight material Tufnol. The yacht blocks were to be lighter and yet stronger than conventional products. It took almost 20 years for the Barton brand to be known on the international market and Barton blocks to be found on smaller yachts and racing yachts. Barton has expanded its distribution over the years to France, Germany and the Netherlands. In 1988, Barton attended the boat show METS for the first time, which opened the doors to worldwide trade. Nowadays not only blocks but also traveler systems, clamps, boom vangs and other deck hardware are manufactured under the brand name Barton.
