AMEC CAMINO-108S AIS Transponder / integr. splitter / GPS patch antenna

Equipped with an internal splitter, the Camino-108S allows for the use of an existing FM antenna. This makes the installation of the AIS transponder particularly easy, seeing as the existing radio is connected directly to the Camino, instead of to the FM antenna.

Perfect Solution fro Class B AIS
Easy to install and to program. Very happy with my choice and would advise any friend for that. It works on my iPad and in all phone aboard. No need to go to chart plotter!

Gute Ergänzung
After thinking about it for a long time, I decided to get an AIS tranceiver. Only reception was OK, but I also think it's even safer to send. Here in the East Frisian Wadden Sea, it is certainly not so necessary, but when crossing the German Bight it is a good helper to assess the situation faster and better. Since I have a separate antenna, I can do without the splitter, but I wanted to be able to receive the data wirelessly on my Windows tablet under OpenCPN. Therefore, my choice fell on the comparatively inexpensive Camino with W-LAN. At the same time I was able to get rid of the old Furuno GPS receiver.

Flag of English Excuse my ignorance but the GPS patch antenna means I don’t have to buy a splitter to use VHF antenna? The only other requirement is to plug it into a laptop or into my chart plotter. Is that correct? Thank you Keith

You need either splitter from your VHF antenna or own AIS VHF antenna connected to CAMINO in order to get AIS data in.
