Quite a lot of money, one also needs the splitter, if one wants to use the VHF antenna in the mast top (makes sense surely, since thereby the highest possible range is achieved). The switch for connecting the active send signal can be any one-pole on-off switch. The GPS antenna is absolutely necessary. The device does not take a GPS signal over the bus !!!

gutes Teil, doch eigene GPS Antenne erforderlich
The basic installation was simple. However, the fact that a GPS antenna is needed is annoying. Why is not the GPS signal used by the bus? Effortless cable pulling and installing the GPS antenna is required and actually nonsensical. The device itself works best. The switch for the deactivation of the AIS signal must be purchased separately (single - pole on - off switch)
Our answer
Die Notwendigkeit eines eigenen GPS-Empfängers ergibt sich aus den Zulassungsvorschriften. Jeder AIS-Transponder (egal welcher Hersteller) muss mit einem eigenständigen GPS ausgerüstet sein.

Erwas cryptically. SD card is out of the device and is unprotected. AIS function ok.
