Hugo's Boat Class Mini 6.50

Hugo´s Boat Class Mini 6.50

In keeping with his experience, Hugo decided to build the Class Mini in series. The Raison Maxi boat has a scow bow, which is admittedly not very aesthetic, but it's all about the performance, as the round shape helps the boat slide better on the water, making it more efficient when reaching and on downwind courses. As the Mini Transat consists mainly of these courses, this bow form has several advantages.
"Upwind, the Mini Raisons lose little in terms of performance. Such a shape could be the future of offshore sailing,",
says Hugo Picard.

A Design

A design befitting of both SVB and Hugo.

"Create a design that is a reflection of the partnership between SVB and Hugo, by combining technology, speed and elegance - that was our brief for the development of the SVB Team. We're certainly proud of the result!",
says Tanja, graphic designer at SVB.

Thabo, the lucky giraffe

Thabo, the lucky giraffe

Since 2020, a large colorful giraffe has been welcoming customers to SVB's doors. His luminous port and starboard horns are a guiding light, even at night. The name THABO means luck - and that's what we wish Hugo on his races!

Maxi 6.50

idb Marine & David Raison, the maxi 6.50, from
prototype to production

In the summer of 2014, boat builder and designer David Raison developed the first Mini 6.50 with a round bow. Initially, this novel design was launched in the prototype category. David Raison, himself a very successful sailor (more than 30,000 NM singlehanded in the Classe Mini, the Figaro and the Class 40. winner of the Mini Transat 2011, multiple winner of the Mini Fastnet, ...), knew exactly what was needed. The prototype with the round bow scored consistently well in the prototype classification.

This new design was a resounding success. Therefore, in the summer of 2017, the shipyard idb Marin and designer David Raison decided to finally include the unusual shape in the Classe Mini. Thus the Maxi Raison became a production boat. Today, the Raison Maxi with the so-called Scow Bow is one of the favorites in the Mini Transat.
